It is a unique six-day adventure for 75 teenagers from 25 countries: last Wednesday, youths from all over the world converged on Munich for the fifth Allianz Junior Football Camp. The 14 to 16-year-olds are guests of FC Bayern partner Allianz in the Bavarian capital and are experiencing the club in close up for almost a whole week. The youths are training at FCB's Säbener Strasse facility, supervised by junior team coaches.
The kids were warmly welcomed by Bayern mascot Berni, before Germany international Holger Badstuber, currently on the club's injury roster, dropped by for a surprise visit on Thursday. “Ever since the project started, I've got to know kids from the Allianz Junior Football Camp almost every year, and I'm delighted to witness their passion and enthusiasm for football," said Badstuber.
Intense and exciting programme
The event reminds Holger of how he started out in the game. “I used to idolise my heroes," said the Bayern man. Badstuber spent an hour with the kids, who were hardly able to believe their luck, although the participants in the Allianz Junior Football Camp are benefiting from the usual exciting programme this year.
