Midfielder Luiz Gustavo has asked to be released from his contract in order to join fellow Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. FC Bayern Munich has granted this request. The 26-year-old moves to Wolfsburg with immediate effect.
Once Luiz Gustavo had decided to leave Munich, the transfer was negotiated by FC Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and VfL managing director Klaus Allofs. Luiz Gustavo will sign a five-year contract binding him to Wolfsburg until 2018. Further terms and agreements related to the transfer remain undisclosed.
“On behalf of FC Bayern, I would like to express warm thanks to Luiz Gustavo for his two and a half years in Munich,” commented Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, “his calm but always friendly and extremely professional manner has won him many friends at our club. We could always rely on Luiz Gustavo, and he made his contribution to FC Bayern winning the treble last season.“
