Interview: Gladbach boss

Favre: Hurting Bayern will be tough

In just a few short years, Lucien Favre has transformed Borussia Mönchengladbach from relegation fodder to Europa League hopefuls, creating one of the strongest teams in the Bundesliga in the process. The boss of Bayern's opening day opponents talked to official journal Bayern Magazin about Friday's match, his protégé Dante, and the “real coup" in Munich acquiring the services of Pep Guardiola.

Interview: Lucien Favre

Bayern Magazin: Lucien Favre, the new season starts for you like the old one ended. Are you looking forward to the match against treble winners Bayern?
Lucien Favre: I look forward to every Bundesliga match. It's a fantastic league. You play top teams every weekend and the stadiums are always full. But it's very special to be starting against Bayern. We know all about it – it was the same two years ago.
