Most of the Bayern pros escaped the start of the Munich winter on Tuesday morning, as they travelled instead to Moscow, although conditions in Russia are barely more pleasant. And even though many of the stars are absent, the Säbener Strasse facility remains a busy place.
Most importantly, the Performance Center was in full use, where the physiotherapists had their work cut out. The injured Franck Ribéry (fractured rib), Mario Mandzukic (calf) and Diego Contento, who still has “problems with his legs” as Pep Guardiola reported a couple of days ago, were treated in the morning. Mandzukic and Contento followed this up with some light training on the practice ground.
In the meantime Claudio Pizarro and Xherdan Shaqiri have continued their fitness routine, working both the treadmill and the weights. “I hope to be back in action next week,” Shaqiri said, after being out for nearly six weeks with a torn muscle.
Pizarro has also completed a couple of track exercises in the past couple of days. He has also been suffering from a ruptured muscle. However, the Peruvian striker has already regained his good mood: “I feel great!” he said.
