Kuwait City, Kuwait, 27 December 2013: Volkswagen Middle East, hosts of FC Bayern Munich’s regional winter training camp, has today announced that local football team Kuwait Sporting Club will play FC Bayern Munich in a friendly match on 13 January 2014.
The game has been arranged as part of FC Bayern Munich’s winter training schedule, which for the fourth year running sees them based in Doha, Qatar.
Attracted to the region for its growing number of top class sport facilities and guaranteed warm winter weather, FC Bayern Munich have been keen for this year to take on teams from other Gulf countries, which is why they have agreed to play Kuwait Sporting Club in Kuwait.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Executive Board Chairman, FC Bayern Munich said, “Thanks to the support of Volkswagen we have been coming to the Middle East for a number of years. It provides us with exactly what we need to prepare for the challenges of the second half of the season - fantastic facilities, great weather and passionate local teams that want to challenge themselves against the some of the world’s best players.
“Every year we look forward to returning to the region but this year is even more exciting as this will be our first visit to Kuwait. We are really looking forward to the challenge that Kuwait Sporting Club will give us and also importantly to meet with the passionate Kuwaiti fans,” he concluded.
