FCB resume training in Munich

After a day and a half to recharge their batteries, the Bayern stars were back at the Säbener Strasse headquarters and training facility on Thursday to begin the fine-tuning process in the build-up to the second half of the Bundesliga season. Coach Pep Guardiola supervised his troops in the first public session of 2014 at the club’s home base. The good-sized crowd caught sight of the entire first-team squad with the exception of Holger Badstuber. Arjen Robben completed all the squad drills, while Bastian Schweinsteiger and Daniel van Buyten worked on running and sprinting away from the rest of the group. Guardiola has scheduled two closed sessions for Friday.

Gladbach raring to go

There is just over a week to go before Bayern contest the official Bundesliga restart fixture away to third-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach. Gladbach are hard at work in preparation for the top-of-the-table showdown with coach Lucien Favre and his men currently deep into a training camp on the Turkish Riviera. Key defender Alvaro Dominguez has made a comeback from injury meaning Borussia are currently at full strength. “We want to do more than just look cute against Bayern,” midfielder Granit Xhaka confidently declared.
