Even on official squad days off, plenty of the Bayern players cannot help but report for training anyway. There was no official workout scheduled for Monday, but just like the previous day a handful of FCB men showed up for work at the Säbener Strasse facility in any case. Arjen Robben, Claudio Pizarro, Diego Contento, Julian Green and Ylli Sallahi reported to fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer for a session of sprinting and stamina-building drills out on the practice ground. The quintet were making sure they are in the best possible shape for the next official training session under Pep Guardiola on Tuesday morning.
Arsenal retain top spot
Bayern’s Champions League last sixteen opponents Arsenal have retained the lead in the English Premier League after the 22nd round of fixtures. A double strike from Santi Cazorla after 57 and 62 minutes was enough for the Gunners to earn all three points with a 2-0 victory at home to Fulham at the weekend, taking Arsene Wenger’s team onto 51 points. However, it remains tight at the top: Manchester City are only a point behind Arsenal after beating Cardiff City 4-2, with Chelsea two points off the lead following a 3-1 victory over Manchester United.
