Xherdan Shaqiri is edging ever closer to making a comeback. The Switzerland international returned to training with the ball on Tuesday, ten days after suffering a thigh injury against SC Freiburg. “I’m OK again now and my thigh’s not giving me any trouble,” the 22-year-old told fcbayern.de. Shaq is due to return to full training sometime this week.
Boateng lends support to UNESCO
Bayern pro Jérôme Boateng has a big heart for children. The central defender was at a Munich comprehensive school on Tuesday to launch a charity project entitled ‘Living a Dream’, organised by the UNESCO support organisation Pro Kinderhilfe e.V., which is working to help disadvantaged children in Brazil at risk of hunger, violence, exploitation and criminality. The project aims to get children and young people out of the favelas and give them a solid basic education, plus the chance to play football supported by professionals. “I’m particularly interested in helping young people get a break. That’s what we want to achieve with this project,” said Boateng, himself the father of twins.
