Records, records and more records have paved the way to the early win of the Bundesliga title in Berlin on Tuesday night. Pep Guardiola’s players were and are determined to build on last season’s record-breaking campaign. fcbayern.de documents Bayern’s current records in the Bundesliga. And there are still seven games to play...
Current records:
Earliest title win: Bayern have won their 24th German league title with seven games to go. Guardiola’s team have improved on the record set by Jupp Heynckes’ eleven last season (Matchday 28). This is the first time in the history of the Bundesliga a club has won the title in March.
Longest successful run: FCB have gone 52 games undefeated in the Bundesliga (46 wins, 6 draws) and have smashed the record previously held by Hamburg SV (36 games, 1982/83). In the top five European leagues (Germany, England, France, Italy, Spain) only AC Milan have achieved a longer run (58 games, 1991-93).
Longest winning run: Bayern secured a 19th league win on the bounce at Hertha Berlin. It is almost six months since the last time Bayern failed to win when they drew 1-1 at Bayer Leverkusen in October 2013. FCB set the previous record with 15 wins in succession in 2005.
Longest run of away wins: FCB clocked up a tenth away win on the trot in Berlin, thereby beating last season’s record of nine wins.
Starting record: Bayern have not lost any of the 27 Bundesliga games played this season (previous record: 24, Leverkusen, 2009/10).
Longest run of goals: The Reds have scored at least one goal in the last 64 league games. The last time Bayern drew a blank was almost two years ago (0-0 against Mainz in April 2012). Bayern also set the previous record (36 games, 1973-74). Only Barcelona in the top five European leagues have as good a goalscoring record (64 games, 2012-13).
Longest run of at least two goals: FC Bayern have scored at least two goals in the previous 19 Bundesliga games. That run started after the 1-1 draw at Leverkusen last October. Borussia Dortmund set the previous record in 1995 (14 games).
The most points: 77 points (out of a possible 81) from 27 games is a record in the Bundesliga - and that beats the previous record set by Bayern last term by two points.
Biggest lead: 25 points ahead of the second-placed team - that is the biggest ever lead after 27 games in the Bundesliga. The existing record (20 points), was also set by FCB a year ago.
FCB can still set these records:
A season unbeaten: No club has achieved that since the Bundesliga was founded in 1963. Bayern have twice gone a whole season with just one defeat (1986/87, 2012/13).
All home games won in a season: That would also be a first. Three clubs currently hold the record of 16 wins (in 17 home games): Schalke 1971/72, FC Bayern 1972/73, VfL Wolfsburg 2008/09.
The highest number of points: Bayern established a new record last season with 91 points. The Reds currently have 77 points under their belts and there are still 21 up for grabs.
The most wins: FCB hold the record with 29 wins, set last season. Guardiola’s team has won 25 matches with seven to play.
The biggest lead: It currently stands at 25 points and the record for a whole season is also 25, set last term.
The most goals: FC Bayern are the only club to break the 100-goal barrier. Gerd Müller & Co. scored 101 goals in the 1971/72 campaign. FCB have found the back of the net 79 times so far this season with the win at Hertha Berlin, equalling the club record after 27 games set in 1973/74. 22 goals are required in the remaining seven fixtures (3.1 per game) to set a new league record.
Fewest goals conceded: FCB set the record of 18 goals against last season. Manuel Neuer has let in 13 so far in the current campaign.
The most clean sheets: Once again, the record was set last season (21). FCB have 16 clean sheets so far this season.
