Excellent recent record against BVB

After a tough period a couple of years ago, Bayern’s recent record against domestic arch-rivals BVB is excellent, as the Reds have won four, drawn two and lost only one of the last seven meetings between the clubs. The teams have met on 103 occasions in total with FCB winning 47, including the 2013 Champions League final in London. Munich have lost only 26 times to Borussia down the years. However, the champions failed to win any of their last three Bundesliga home meetings with Dortmund. The most recent league victory at the Allianz Arena was a 3-1 success in February 2010, more than four years ago.

Leading scorers go head-to-head

Saturday’s clash between Bayern and Dortmund is also a potential head-to-head between the leading scorers in the German top flight so far this season. Mario Mandzukic and Robert Lewandowski, who joins Munich this summer, are level at the top of the chart on 17 goals each. Neither has ever finished a Bundesliga season as top marksman but the pair are lead candidates this term. However, Adrian Ramos of Hertha BSC and Josip Drmic of FC Nürnberg are both only a goal behind on 16.

Zwayer to take charge

FIFA referee Felix Zwayer from Berlin has been appointed to the biggest game of the weekend. The 32-year-old estate agent takes charge of a fixture involving Bayern for the third time this season. Zwayer previously officiated at the away DFB Cup victories in Augsburg (2-0) and Hamburg (5-0). His assistants are Mark Borsch and Marcel Pelgrim, and the fourth official is Dr. Jochen Drees.
