Treble winners Bayern will have to make do without goalkeeper Tom Starke. The Reds number two shot-stopper suffered a torn ligament in his elbow during Friday’s final pre-match training session ahead of the derby against FC Augsburg. The diagnosis came after a thorough investigation on Friday night in Augsburg. The 33-year-old keeper underwent an operation in Tübingen on Saturday. It remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined for.
FCB reserves keeper Leopold Zingerle replaced Starke in the squad for the match against Augsburg as third-choice pro Lukas Raeder is also unavailable due to injury. Raeder turned an ankle in the Regional League team training session on Friday and is likely to be out for two weeks.
Starke, who joined FC Bayern from 1899 Hoffenheim in the summer of 2013, has made two competitive appearances in the current campaign to date. He was between the sticks for the 4-0 win at Hannover at the end of February and in last week’s 3-3 draw with Hoffenheim.
