Boateng fit to face USA

Bayern defender Jérôme Boateng and Sami Khedira (Real Madrid) have received the all clear and are fit for Germany's final group match against the USA. Boateng (leg) and Khedira (knee) picked up knocks in the 2-2 draw with Ghana but both were able to take part in full training on Monday and Tuesday. The Germany squad set off on Tuesday evening for Recife ahead of Thursday's game against the USA (6 pm CET).

Scare for Javi Martínez

A lightning strike on the approach to Madrid airport caused brief panic amongst the Spain squad on their flight home from the World Cup. The captain of the flight was quickly able to calm the passengers including FC Bayern pro Javi Martínez. The deposed World Cup holders were the first team to fly home from Brazil after they secured a 3-0 win against Australia in their last match on Monday night.

Dante picks up the ukulele

Dante and his Brazilian team-mates enjoyed a more relaxed flight after their 4-1 victory over Cameroon. On the return journey from Brasília to Rio de Janeiro the Bayern defender picked up the ukulele and Barcelona star Dani Alves joined other players on the drums. The ensemble produced some top samba rhythms that were included in an official video released by the Brazil football association CBF. Dante and Co were given the day off when they arrived at the team hotel.

Schöpf joins FC Nürnberg

The FC Bayern reserves will have to make do without Alessandro Schöpf in the future. The midfielder, recently captain of Erik ten Hag's team, leaves FCB for relegated FC Nürnberg. “I want this move to give me the opportunity to take the next step in developing my career,” said the Austrian who scored 11 goals for the FCB second string last term in 34 appearances in the Regional League.
