Manuel Neuer is the best of the best. Those were the findings of a survey conducted by pollster YouGov, in which 43 percent of surveyed German fans selected the Bayern goalkeeper as the best German player at the World Cup in Brazil, and by quite a margin too. In second place were two other Bayern players: Thomas Müller (18 percent) and Bastian Schweinsteiger (13 percent).
Müller on the ball for a good cause
Shortly after returning home, World Cup winner Thomas Müller was back on the pitch on Friday and this time for a good cause. The FCB star participated in a charity golf tournament for the YoungWings foundation which he supports as an ambassador. After winning the World Cup, there is still no shortage of motivation for Müller. "There's no title left for me to add to my resume," he said. "But I'm 24 and full of energy. It's not always about titles but also the fun of the game." Alongside Müller, former Bayern players Hasan Salihamidzic, Sepp Maier and Franz "Bulle" Roth also took part in the charity event.
FC Bayern basketball signs Savanovic
Bayern's basketball team's squad planning continues. A day after the arrival of youth national team player Daniel Mayr and the departure of Chevon Troutman, the defending champions switched things up in the Power Forward position. Boris Savovic left headcoach Svetislav Pesic's team and transferred to league rivals ratiopharm Ulm. In his place, FCBB brought in Serbian national team player Dusko Savanovic. The 30-year-old last played at Anadolu Efes Istanbul and received a two-year contract.
Quote of the day
“When I got home the first thing I did was go to the butcher and buy a Leberkäs (Bavarian meat loaf) in a bun. Then I felt I was really back home.”
