Good bye New York - Portland, here we come! After three eventful days in the metropolis on the eastern seaboard, the Bayern party set off on Saturday lunchtime for the second destination on the Audi Summer Tour USA 2014. Boss Pep Guardiola and his men will spend the next five days continuing their pre-season preparations in the state of Oregon, before FCB conclude their USA trip on 6 August with the prestigious friendly against the MLS All-Stars.
Portland, six hours by air from New York, lies in a different time zone, as it is three hours behind the Big Apple. FC Bayern director Jörg Wacker has a different and even greater risk of jetlag as he is flying home to Munich from New York and therefore going six hours forward in time. Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who arrived in New York yesterday after his visa problems were resolved, is travelling with the team to Portland.
Just two hours after landing in the west, Franck Ribéry, Holger Badstuber, David Alaba and Co will be out on the practice ground for the first of eight scheduled training sessions. The stars who featured in the World Cup semi-finals and beyond are still enjoying the last few days of their summer vacations but will arrive in Portland bang on time for the Major League Soccer All-Star game.
