New Audis and safety training for the stars

Bayern made a successful start to the new Bundesliga campaign and are poised to hit the gas – literally! A day after the 2–1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg, Pep Guardiola and his team took delivery of their brand-new Audi company vehicles.

“Audi is top,” enthused the boss after a fun-packed afternoon at the Audi driving experience center in Neuburg. Following the official handover ceremony with Audi chairman Rupert Stadler, the playing and coaching staff completed a driver safety training course, to the obvious pleasure of everyone involved.

Accompanied by experienced Audi instructors in the sporty Audi R8, the handling section of the course offered the chance for the players to show off their driving skills at the limit. But who was quickest? “Thomas Müller, definitely,” suggested Guardiola. However, the brakes were applied to Müller, as he revealed with a grin: “I was aiming for the front but overtaking was prohibited. I think I had Julian Green ahead of me, and he'll have felt me breathing down his neck.” The men from Munich were then given a good shake-up when they undertook an off-road obstacle course.

The most popular model among the Bayern contingent this year is the new RS 7 Sportback 4.0 TFSI, driven home afterwards by seven of the players. World Cup winners Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer and Müller and supremo Guardiola opted for the sports-tuned Audi RS 6 Avant 4.0 TFSI.
