Gianluca Gaudino will never forget Friday evening’s meeting with Wolfsburg because the gifted youth made his Bundesliga debut for FCB at the age of just 17 years, nine months and 11 days. Only three players were younger on their maiden top-flight appearance for the Reds: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, David Alaba and Toni Kroos. Intriguingly, Gianluca’s father Maurizio was actually 13 days younger when he made his own first Bundesliga appearance.
World champions honoured
The Allianz Arena rose as one prior to the meeting with Wolfsburg when the FCB board honoured the club's six World Cup winners. Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Co received bouquets and a thunderous round of applause from the 70,000 at the ground.
Neuer honoured
Manuel Neuer is now officially German footballer of the year. kicker magazine publisher Rainer Holzschuh presented the Germany goalkeeper with the trophy for the player of the season half an hour before Friday's kick-off. The Bayern number one triumphed for the second time in his career in the annual vote held among sports journalists.
Robben honoured
You the FC Bayern fans have delivered your verdict! In the contest for the club’s player of the season which concluded in June, Arjen Robben came top of the poll with 30.9 percent of the votes, comfortably ahead of Thomas Müller (17.4) and club captain Philipp Lahm (15.1). The result of the vote was received with warm applause at the Allianz Arena when it was announced prior to the meeting with Wolfsburg.
