The FCB stars looked as smart and well turned out as ever in Lederhosen and traditional Bavarian costume prior to Sunday morning's training session at the Säbener Strasse. A few weeks before the Oktoberfest, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm & Co were in jovial spirits for the now traditional Paulaner photo shoot, with a hint of the world's biggest beer and popular festival already in the air. The main shot was a group photo featuring the entire squad and coaching staff, with additional images captured in a beer garden setting and for the annual Paulaner Cup des Südens tournament. After the 45-minute shoot the players completed a public training session in front of a crowd of approximately 1,000.

Bayern’s Champions League group opponents AS Roma have signed José Holebas, a Greece international and a TSV 1860 Munich player from 2006 until 2010, who moves to the Italian capital from Olimpiakos Piraeus. The Aschaffenburg-born 30-year-old inked a three-year deal with Roma and was at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday evening to witness his new team-mates open their Serie A campaign with a 2–0 victory over Fiorentina. Radja Nainggolan (28) and Gervinho (90+3) sealed the points for the home team.
City suffer shock defeat
English champions Manchester City fell to a surprise defeat in the Premier League on Saturday. After opening the campaign with maximum points from two matches, the Sky Blues lost 1–0 at home to Stoke City, former Hannover striker Mame Diouf running the length of the field to net the only goal of the game after 58 minutes. Bayern's first Champions League opponents also lost new Brazilian signing Fernando to a 38th-minute injury.
