A day after the Bayern squad returned from the USA, Pep Guardiola gave his troops the day off. But the next big appointments are already on the horizon with Saturday’s Allianz FC Bayern Team Presentation in front of a 65,000 crowd at the Allianz Arena, and the DFL Super Cup in Dortmund next Wednesday. Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge discussed these and other topics with FCB.tv on Friday.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on...
...the USA tour: “Our expectations were more than met. We promoted FC Bayern and made new friends so it was a total success. The team played their part wonderfully.”
...Robert Lewandowski: “He’s absolutely world-class. He has such enormous quality. He doesn't need many chances to get his goals, and he scores almost every game. I think we're going to enjoy having him as our central striker..”
...Pepe Reina’s arrival at the club: “He fits the profile we were looking for. We wanted an established and experienced goalkeeper with a certain level of footballing quality.”
...squad planning: “The most that might happen is that we send one or two of the younger players out on loan, because we want them to gain match practice.”
...Saturday's team presentation: “I think it's unbelievable that an open day like this is a sell-out. We always looked enviously at Real Madrid and Barcelona due to this kind of thing, but we have it in Munich now!”
...the Super Cup in Dortmund: “I think there'll always be an edge when Bayern Munich play Borussia Dortmund. On the other hand neither team will be in peak condition yet. We'll go there and do our best to play well, but whatever happens we won't read too much into it.”
