Quartet break sweat on day off

Saturday was technically a day off for the first-team stars but Arjen Robben, Dante, Rafinha and Medhi Benatia still reported for training at the Säbener Strasse. Robben and Dante put in arguably the hardest shift of all as the two World Cup semi-finalists completed an intensive fitness workout including stamina and sprint drills. Football-specific exercises were the order of the day for Benatia. The Moroccan is working his way towards peak fitness after a muscular problem. Rafinha (ligaments) dropped by in the morning for a run.

Sinan Kurt wins with Germany U-19s

FCB newcomer Sinan Kurt has made a successful start to the first year of Germany U-19 international football after the previous generation's triumph in the European championship for that age group. Watched by a 2,839 crowd in Cologne, coach Marcus Sorg’s newly-formed team defeated the Netherlands 3-2. Timo Werner (25, 35 pen) netted for the home team but Suently Alberto (10) and Jari Schuurmann (54) scored for the visitors. The Germans’ deserved winner came from Leroy Sané on 67 minutes, four minutes after Kurt was substituted.
