Alberto Undiano Mallenco has been appointed to referee Bayern’s first Champions League fixture of the new season. The 40-year-old Spaniard last took charge of a European match involving Munich four years ago in the Reds’ 3-2 defeat away to AS Roma in November 2010. In all, the experienced official has refereed games involving the Bavarians four times in the past.
FCB veterans claim national championship
The FC Bayern over-50s veterans’ team are celebrating a noteworthy triumph after finishing first at the DFB Ü-50 Cup in Berlin and claiming the German championship. The FCB vets won three and drew two of their matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding only two, as they comfortably saw off the challenge posed by the other five teams in the competition.
