Tuesday evening’s 1-0 victory over CSKA Moscow means Bayern have joined an elite circle of European clubs, as it was the Bundesliga leaders’ 100th win in the Champions League. Only three other clubs have passed the momentous milestone: Real Madrid (117), Barcelona (109) and Manchester United (107). Bayern’s all-time Champions League record reads played 189, won 100, drawn 45 and lost 44.
Calls-ups for Alaba and Hojbjerg
David Alaba and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been called up for senior international duty. Alaba is in the Austria squad for the Euro 2016 qualifying double-header away to Moldova on 9 October and at home to Montenegro three days later. Hojbjerg is in line to represent Denmark in qualifying action away to Albania on 11 October and at home to Portugal on 14 October.
Sepp Maier exhibition extended
175,000 visitors have already taken in the special exhibition dedicated to the life and times of goalkeeping legend Sepp Maier since it opened to mark his 70th birthday in March. Even more fans and enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the display at the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt with the news that ‘Sepp Maier – Goalkeeper, Inventor, All-Rounder’ (Sepp Maier - Torwart, Tüftler, Tausendsassa) has been extended by popular demand by more than three months until 11 January 2015. The special exhibition covering more than 100 square metres features a wealth of exhibits illustrating Maier’s fascinating private and footballing life.
