FC Bayern have never lost to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, although the matches have often been close and the corresponding fixture last season ended 3-3. fcbayern.de presents the facts, figures and stats prior to Saturday’s Bundesliga clash.
FC Bayern have faced Hoffenheim 12 times in total, with all the matches being Bundesliga fixtures. The Reds remain undefeated in the pairing with eight wins and four draws, including 28 goals for and ten against. FCB were responsible for the heaviest defeat in Hoffenheim’s Bundesliga history, a 7-1 thrashing at the Allianz Arena in March 2012. And the Bavarians remain the only Bundesliga club TSG have yet to beat at least once.
FC Bayern have won their last eight home fixtures in the Bundesliga, scoring 26 goals and conceding only four. FCB last set off on a similar streak in January 2013 to March 2014, when the men from Munich won no fewer than 21 home matches on the trot – a run that ended with the 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim. Overall, Pep Guardiola’s men are undefeated in 15 league matches (12 wins, three draws, goals for 39, goals against six).
The most recent meeting
Bayern were already crowned champions when Hoffenheim visited the Allianz Arena in March 2014. The match finished 3-3 and 1899 took their first away point in Munich. Claudio Pizarro (31, 40) and Xherdan Shaqiri (34) scored for Bayern, but Anthony Modeste (23), Sejad Saihovic (44) and Roberto Firmino (75) hit the target for Hoffenheim.
Robben’s home comforts
Goals from Arjen Robben are all but guaranteed at the Allianz Arena: the Dutchman has scored his last 11 in the Bundesliga in front of the Munich faithful. And in five appearances against Hoffenheim, Robben has four goals so far.
Just like Bayern, Hoffenheim survived the first nine league games without defeat, but November saw the streak come to a sudden end as the men from the Kraichgau region lost to both Gladbach and Köln, conceding as many goals in the process (7) as in the previous nine games in total.
Gagelmann in charge
Peter Gagelmann takes charge of a match involving Bayern for the first time this term. The 46-year-old event manager from Bremen will be refereeing the Reds for the 30th time. He once previously officiated at a meeting between FCB and Hoffenheim, Munich’s 4-0 home win in February 2011.
