Five days ahead of the Bundesliga home game against 1899 Hoffenheim, Pep Guardiola led his squad, minus players away on international duty, at the first training session of the week. Mehdi Benatia is the first international to return to Munich and he joined 13 outfield players - including several youth players - and two goalkeepers in training.
FCB trio spreads the word
Eleven players, one coach - FIFA has organised twelve ambassadors in the battle against the Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Led by Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, captain Philipp Lahm and Jérôme Boateng are joined by a number of world stars including Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Neymar (FC Barcelona) and Didier Drogba (Chelsea) in supporting the global public awareness campaign ‘11 against Ebola’ developed by the African federation CAF and health experts. The players are spreading the word under the hashtag #wecanbeatebola via cartoons, comments, banners, posters and photos. The eleven messages, including “report unusual symptoms” and “cook meat thoroughly” are designed to show how the virus is transmitted and how to protect yourself against it.
