The Allianz Arena will be a blaze of festive colour on Tuesday night when FCB lighting partner Philips celebrates the end of another remarkable year with a special Christmas laser show following the Bundesliga meeting with SC Freiburg. And when they pass through the turnstiles to enter the stadium prior to kick-off, every ticket holder will receive a voucher for a free Glühwein or punch, to be redeemed at the appropriate catering stands. The club’s advice for Tuesday evening is to come to the Allianz Arena a little earlier and leave a little later!
Undefeated at home to Freiburg
SC Freiburg would probably prefer not to bother with their trips to the Bavarian capital, certainly from a sporting point of view. That’s because FC Bayern boast a near-perfect home record against the men from the Breisgau region with 13 wins, two draws, no defeats, 40 goals scored and only eight conceded. The most recent running of the fixture in February this year yielded a clear-cut 4-0 home win.
Eighteen years since last defeat
Bayern also lead comfortably in the overall stats for the fixture. Of 30 Bundesliga meetings, the nation’s most successful club have won 21, drawn six and lost only three. Munich’s most recent defeat came well over 18 years ago, a 3-1 reverse in March 1996.
First FCB game of term for Drees
Dr Jochen Drees from Münster-Sarmsheim will referee Tuesday evening’s clash between Bayern and SC Freiburg. It is the 44-year-old medical practitioner’s first game involving FCB this season. Dr Drees will be assisted by Norbert Grudzinski and Christian Gittelmann, with Holger Henschel as the fourth official.
