The city of Munich’s planning authorities have approved FC Bayern’s proposal for a capacity increase at the Allianz Arena. Effective immediately, the capacity at the stadium for Bundesliga matches rises by 4,000 to 75,000. For Champions League fixtures, the maximum permitted crowd rises from 68,000 to just under 70,000.
“We’re extremely pleased that from now on we can give even more fans the chance to attend our team’s matches,” commented chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Deputy chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen said: “We would like to thank the municipal authorities, police and fire service for the productive cooperation in this matter.”
Bayern’s first home match in front on a 75,000 crowd will be the meeting with Schalke 04 on 3 February. The shuttle buses tested on matchdays in recent months will operate on special occasions in the future. The new capacity increase has been initially approved until July 2015.
