Arjen Robben is out on his own according to the German football rankings compiled by kicker magazine, which deemed Bayern’s Dutch star the only Bundesliga player worthy of the world-class label in the attacking wide player category. “He has been in a league of his own for the last six months,” the journal said, as the player topped the ranking “by a significant margin. Almost every move he made was characterised by dynamism, footballing elegance and powerful determination.” Thomas Müller came second in the ranking and Franck Ribéry fifth, both earning the international class tag. Robert Lewandowski was also labelled international class and came second in the strikers’ ranking behind only Eintracht Frankfurt’s Alexander Meier, currently the Bundesliga’s top scorer.
Boateng ‘most stylish man in Germany’
Elsewhere, Jérôme Boateng has excelled in a completely different field. GQ magazine has proclaimed the Bayern defender to be the most stylish man in Germany. “Whether casually dressed in jogging pants, a t-shirt and sneakers or snappily attired, the World Cup winner always shows the right timing, just like he does on the field,” the magazine wrote. Bastian Schweinsteiger also made the top ten with an appearance in eighth place.
