Brief break in Doha

After five intense training sessions Pep Guardiola gave his men the morning off on Monday. A few players set out to explore the surroundings, but most  opted instead for massage and regeneration after the rigours of recent days. Mario Götze, Juan Bernat and David Alaba each put in an extra session with Mehdi Benatia completing a few laps of the Aspire Academy facility.

Alaba and Bernat resume team training

There was more good news of Alaba later on Monday, day three of the Doha training camp, when the Austrian Sports Personality of the Year took part in the squad programme for the first time. The 23-year-old has been sidelined since early November with a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) and damage to the medial meniscus in his right knee. Juan Bernat also rejoined the team after recovering from flu.
