Dante and Thomas Müller are popular personalities, but even the star duo were surprised by the reception awaiting them when they dropped by a major VW subsidiary in Doha on Saturday for an autograph-signing session in between squad workouts at the Volkswagen Camp Qatar. The pair were greeted by a huge crowd of fans numbering well into the hundreds, all eager to grab a star signature and take souvenir snapshots.
“I’m astonished. So many people! I didn’t expect this,” declared a visibly delighted Dante. “The folk here are excited and lots of them have replica shirts. You can tell it’s not the first time we’ve been here,” added Müller. The World Cup winner enjoyed the party mood just as much as his Brazilian team-mate: “It’s great when the people are so warm and welcoming.”
