Boateng: We must focus for 90 minutes

Jérôme Boateng was one of the first players out onto the Säbener Strasse training ground on Saturday morning. Not many hours had passed since the previous evening’s 4-1 victory over Köln, but the FCB centre-back still took time out for an exclusive chat with FCB.tv prior to the morning workout. fcbayern.de presents extracts from the interview, in which Boateng discussed the Köln match, Manuel Neuer and FCB’s current form.

Jérôme Boateng on...

...the day after a match:
”I spend a short time in the weights room, and then on the bike. The players who weren’t in the starting line-up train outdoors. Nutrition plays a vital role in regeneration. It’s very important for every player to recover well. I eat yoghurt with fruit for breakfast, and I have pasta for lunch. Plenty of carbohydrates basically.”

...the 4-1 victory over Köln:
”We started very well, but then we faded badly and allowed Köln to come at us far too strongly. They could even have equalised if it wasn’t for Manu. But we picked up the pace again and at the end of the day the margin of victory was deserved. However, we’re not entirely satisfied. We carelessly gave away possession far too often and our transitions weren’t good.”

...Manuel Neuer:
”We’re obviously all delighted we have him in goal. In my opinion there’s simply no better keeper, as he demonstrates every week.”

...Bayern’s current form:
”We’re on track, but we need to keep working towards concentrating for the full 90 minutes and turning in a top performance. If we can do that, I’m confident we’ll go through in the cup and the Champions League.”
