Lahm back up and running

Fourteen weeks after sustaining a broken ankle in training, FCB club captain Philipp Lahm began running again on Monday. At the same time as his team-mates’ final pre-match training session prior to the flight to Lviv for Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk, the defensive specialist spent a half-hour completing laps of the Säbener Strasse training ground, before continuing his sports rehab programme in the performance centre. Lahm fractured his right ankle during a routine workout back in November last year.

After months of preliminary elimination tournaments organised by schools in more than 300 Chinese cities, the FC Bayern Youth Cup China grand finals took place in Beijing on Saturday. At the event, staged in cooperation with Yingli Solar, the Chinese FA and state broadcaster CCTV 5, FC Bayern brand ambassador Paul Breitner picked out the ten most talented youths aged between 14 and 16. The lucky youngsters will now represent China at the FCB Youth Cup World Final at the Allianz Arena in late May, where they face selected talents from the USA, Japan, Thailand, India, Austria and Germany. During the event, FCB legend Breitner spoke with many Chinese media channels and kept appointments with Bayern partners adidas, Audi, Allianz and Lufthansa. The 63-year-old also paid a visit to the FCB Beijing fan club.
