Arjen Robben is in irresistible form right now: the Dutchman scored twice in FCB’s 6-0 victory at Paderborn and is now the Bundesliga’s top scorer this season on 16 goals, two ahead of Frankfurt’s Alex Meier. Robben, who has also now scored at least once against all 17 current Bundesliga opponents, has netted 12 times in his last 11 league appearances. On Saturday, the 31-year-old had a hand in four goals in a single match (two goals, two assists) for the first time since 10 March 2012. Last but not least, Arjen has already equalled his personal best for a season, the 16 goals he scored in his first campaign with Bayern in 2009/10.
Lewandowski moving up
Saturday’s Paderborn clash brought Robert Lewandowski his second brace in an FCB shirt. In the all-time Bundesliga scoring chart for non-German players, which is headed by Claudio Pizarro, the Pole is now up to tenth on 84 goals and only needs another six to catch ninth-placed Toni Polster. Lewandowski’s ten goals this term mean he is FC Bayern’s second-best marksman after Robben.
Maiden top flight goal for Weiser
Mitchell Weiser’s ninth Bundesliga appearance brought him his first top-flight goal, and it was a memorable one too as the youngster ran onto a Sebastian Rode pass and directed a delicate lob over Paderborn keeper Lukas Kruse and in at the far corner.
Bundesliga record equalled
Manuel Neuer kept a 16th clean sheet of the season on Saturday, helping FCB equal the Bundesliga record after 22 games from the 2012/13 season. At the other end of the field, Germany’s biggest club have scored 14 goals in consecutive matches (8-0 against Hamburg, 6-0 in Paderborn), a feat they last managed back in March 1984.
