Following Bayern’s impressive 6-0 triumph away to SC Paderborn, head coach Pep Guardiola awarded his men Sunday off. It is a perfect opportunity for the players to recharge mentally, although the wet and chilly weather in Munich means staying indoors is probably the best option. The next scheduled workout is an open session at 11:00 on Monday morning, when the squad will begin preparations for Friday evening’s Bundesliga meeting with FC Köln at the Allianz Arena (kick-off 20:30 CET).
Fourth-biggest away win in FCB history
In their long Bundesliga history, FC Bayern have only won twice away from home by a greater margin of victory than Saturday’s 6-0 success in Paderborn. The biggest win to date in 846 top flight games on the road was an 8-1 thrashing handed out to St. Pauli on 7 May 2011.
Goalscoring record in sight
On current form, FCB stand a chance of bettering the longstanding goalscoring record for a Bundesliga season, currently held by the Reds themselves. Saturday’s half-dozen haul in east Westphalia takes the champions onto 59 for the campaign so far – the same total achieved after 22 matches by the 1971/72 Bayern generation, who went on to set the current record for a season of 101 goals.
