With the sole exception of Javi Martínez, who is still pursuing an individual programme as he recovers from a torn cruciate ligament, the entire FC Bayern squad took part in Friday’s training workout, meaning the coaching staff supervised the largest group of players yet this season. Previously long-term absentees Philipp Lahm and Thiago resumed the team sessions last week, with Franck Ribéry, Sebastian Rode and Claudio Pizarro all returning after shaking off minor injuries. Pep Guardiola will name his 18-man squad for Sunday’s Bundesliga meeting with Borussia Mönchengladbach following the final pre-match workout on Saturday.

Call-ups for Robben and Bernat
As expected, bondscoach Guus Hiddink has named Arjen Robben in his squad for the Netherlands’ EURO 2016 qualifier against Turkey on 28 March plus a friendly against Spain in Amsterdam three days later. Meanwhile, Juan Bernat has been called up by Spain supremo Vicente del Bosque for the qualifier against Ukraine in Seville on 27 March and the friendly against the Dutch on the 31st.
Hopfner congratulates member No1
He has reached a century and is still a Bayern fan through and through: Otto Schwab, who holds FC Bayern membership number 1, celebrated his 100th birthday on Friday 20 March. Naturally, members’ club president Karl Hopfner personally congratulated the centurion on behalf of FC Bayern.
