Bayern face a new selection concern on the news that David Alaba sustained an injury while playing for Austria in a 1-1 friendly international draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old took a knock in a challenge and was substituted shortly before half-time. “David has a problem with his left knee, he felt a sharp pain. He’s not in great shape,” Austria boss Marcel Koller said after the final whistle.
Alaba, a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s favoured formation, will report to FCB chief medical officer Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt for a medical in Munich on Wednesday. The FCB youth product only recently returned to action after sustaining a partial tear of the anterior ligament last November, although that was a problem affecting his right knee. Bayern were without Alaba for the next three months.
