Jérôme Boateng has pledged his committed support for people suffering from leukaemia. In association with the German Bone Marrow Donor Centre (DKMS) the 26-year-old launched the ‘Football Heroes’ project on Wednesday. As part of a campaign involving all 25,456 football clubs in Germany contacted by DKMS, the clubs are to register their players with the donor centre, the organisation announced. “This project is very close to my heart,” declared the Bayern defender. Leukaemia can affect every human being. At the same time everybody can help each other. “We footballers stick together. And that’s why I’m asking all football players in Germany to register with DKMS,” said the Germany international.
