The Telekom Cup will once again be a staple component in FC Bayern’s preparations for the new season. The 2015 edition of the annual tournament, now in its seventh year and to be played for the first time on a single day, takes place at BORUSSIA-PARK in Mönchengladbach on 12 July. Bayern and hosts Borussia Mönchengladbach are joined in the starting field by Hamburger SV and FC Augsburg.
After winning the trophy in the last two years, Bayern again approach the event as holders. The tournament opens with the first semi-final between Mönchengladbach and HSV, followed by the meeting between FCB and FCA. The losers contest the match for third place, with the winners of the semi-finals then meeting in the final of the Telekom Cup 2015. Each match consists of one 45-minute period of play, with a penalty shootout to determine the winner in the event of a draw.
“The Telekom Cup 2015 will be FC Bayern’s first major pre-season test,” commented FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge..
