In the build-up to Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to Leverkusen and the Champions League last four clash with Barcelona, FC Bayern have a new and potentially serious crop of selection concerns after Arjen Robben, Thiago and Robert Lewandowski all sustained injuries in the DFB Cup semi-final defeat to Dortmund on Tuesday night. Robben only managed 16 minutes on the pitch after coming on as a sub before feeling a calf go tight and having to leave the field again. “He’s injured,” Pep Guardiola confirmed at the post-match press conference. Thiago took a painful knock, the coach reported, and Lewandowski was taken to hospital after the final whistle with suspected concussion. Final diagnoses will be issued in the course of Wednesday.
Barça demolish Getafe
Bayern’s Champions League last four opponents FC Barcelona maintained their excellent form in Spain’s La Liga on Tuesday evening as Luis Enrique’s men steamrollered 13th-placed FC Getafe 6-0 at Camp Nou. Barça led 5-0 at the break through goals from Lionel Messi (9), Luis Suarez (25, 40), Neymar (26) and Xavi (30), with Messi completing his brace two minutes after the restart. The Catalans visit bottom club FC Cordoba at 18.00 CET on Saturday, before the semi-final first leg against Bayern on Wednesday 6 May.
