Porto primed for Bayern clash

FC Porto have warmed up for the Champions League quarter-final first leg at home to Bayern with a 3-1 win away to Rio Ave in the Portuguese Liga Zon Sagres. Ricardo Quaresma opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 25 minutes of the game in Vila do Conde, with Danilo adding a second in first-half stoppage time and Hernani making it three for the 27-time Portuguese champions seven minutes from the end.

The victory means second-placed Porto move onto 68 points and remain three off leaders Benfica, 5-1 winners against Academica de Coimbra. “That was a very important match,” commented Porto boss Julen Lopetegui, “now we have to recover in time for the game on Wednesday.”

Porto line-up against Rio Ave: Fabiano – Danilo, Maicon, Marcano, Alex Sandro – Casemiro, Herrera (Evandro 86), Óliver Torres – Quaresma (Hernani 63), Aboubakar, Brahimi (Ruben Neves 73)
