No sooner is the personnel situation looking brighter at FC Bayern than the injury list lengthens again: Arjen Robben suffered a torn calf muscle in his left leg during the DFB Cup semi-final against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. That means the Dutchman is ruled out for the rest of the season having just made his comeback against Dortmund after recovering from a stomach muscle injury.
And Robert Lewandowski, who netted nine times in his last nine competitive matches for FC Bayern, has also been seriously injured. The Poland international suffered concussion plus a broken nose and jaw. The exact length of the striker’s absence will be announced on completion of further medical examinations.
On the plus side, Thiago did not pick up a serious injury in the DFB Cup tie. The Spaniard only suffered slight bruising.
