There was good news waiting for the FC Bayern squad on their return from Barcelona: five weeks after rupturing a ligament in his left knee, David Alaba was jogging and running again out on the Säbener Strasse training ground. The 22-year-old sustained the injury while on duty for Austria against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

First workout after Barcelona includes Starke

While Alaba clocked up laps of the practice ground on Thursday afternoon, the squad completed the first open training session after their return from Barcelona: the stars landed at Munich airport just after 13.00 CET. The group for training comprised only the players who were not in the starting line-up at Camp Nou the previous evening, plus a number of reserve players - and Tom Starke. The backup keeper, who turned an ankle four and a half weeks ago, took up the squad programme for the first time since his injury.

Müller's milestone

The Champions League semi-final first leg away to FC Barcelona was Thomas Müller's 300th senior appearance for Bayern. The World Cup winner has scored 119 goals to date. The 25-year-old also scored 16 times in 35 games for the FC Bayern reserves in the fourth and third tiers of the German game.
