On Saturday lunchtime, FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and honorary president Franz Beckenbauer personally opened “Kaiser. Kalle. Bomber.”, an FCB Erlebniswelt special exhibition dedicated to the two ex-players themselves and fellow Munich legend Gerd Müller. The installation, which runs at the club museum until 31 December 2015, incorporates a wealth of exhibits, accolades and mementoes dedicated to the revered trio, accompanied by fascinating facts and anecdotes. All three have provided interesting items from their own private collections. The show also includes exclusive film material. “The watchword ‘Mia san Mia’ that we at FC Bayern live to this day has its roots in that period. Franz, Gerd and also yours truly are proud to have helped shape the appeal and values of this magnificent club,” Rummenigge commented.
Firsts for Lahm and Neuer
Saturday afternoon’s home meeting with Augsburg brought firsts for two of FC Bayern’s world champions, triggered by the early red card for Pepe Reina. The sending-off necessitated a tactical substitution on 14 minutes with Philipp Lahm giving way to Manuel Neuer. Lahm, contesting his 331st German top flight match, had never before been substituted before half-time. Neuer’s 281st Bundesliga appearance was his first as a sub.
