Freiburg rarely come away with points against FC Bayern. The German record champions are unbeaten against the team from the Breisgau region in the last 19 years. The most recent defeat in a fixture dates back to March 1996, a 3-1 reverse. In total the clubs clashed 31 times, with 22 Bayern wins, six draws and three victories for Freiburg.
Reina and Dante banned
On the Bayern side Pepe Reina misses out with a one-match ban after his red card against Augsburg – just like Dante, who was booked for the fifth time. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Rafinha have been yellow carded four times this season and would be suspended for the last match against Mainz 05 in case of another card.
Negative streaks
Bayern lost their last two Bundesliga matches as confirmed champions (Leverkusen, Augsburg). Freiburg, 15th in the table, are fighting relegation and are without a victory in five, although that includes three draws.
Home weakness v away power
No Bundesliga team has won fewer home matches than SCF (4) in the current season – and now it's the Reds, the strongest away team in the league with 36 points from 16 matches, who visit Freiburg.
Neuer poised to set records
Manuel Neuer kept a clean sheet in 19 matches this season, equalling Oliver Kahn's historic Bundesliga record from the 2001-02 season. The World’s Best Goalkeeper has two more matchdays to set a new record. What's more: if the record champions concede only one more goal the Bavarians would have broken their own Bundesliga record from the 2012-13 season (18 conceded after 34 matches).
Freiburg experts Lewandowski and Pizarro
Robert Lewandowski has won all of his eight Bundesliga matches against SCF, scoring ten times – the Pole has not scored as often against any other club. And Claudio Pizarro has won 16 of his 19 encounters with Freiburg. The Peruvian scored eleven times.
Welz as official
The referee for the second to last FC Bayern Bundesliga match will be Tobias Welz. The policeman from Wiesbaden has taken charge of ten Bayern games so far. The stats: eight wins, one draw and one defeat. In this season he refereed the 3-1 victory away to Hannover as well as the 4-1 defeat in Wolfsburg on the 18th matchday. Rafael Foltyn and Dr. Martin Thomsen will assist the 37-year-old in Freiburg, Dr. Robert Kampka is the fourth official.
