Bayern open new campaign at home to Hamburg

The 53rd Bundesliga season begins in exactly seven weeks, with champions FC Bayern officially inaugurating the new campaign with a home fixture at the Allianz Arena on 14 August. This Friday, the German Football League (DFL) unveiled the full fixture list for the 2015/16 top flight season, with Germany’s biggest club taking on Hamburger SV in the opening match.

Boss Pep Guardiola and his men are on the road for the first time on Matchday 2 in the trip to 1899 Hoffenheim. The Reds then enjoy home advantage twice in a row with the games against Bayer Leverkusen and the Bavarian derby against FC Augsburg, before FCB travel to face promoted minnows SV Darmstadt 98 in the fifth round of matches.

The two home fixtures during the Oktoberfest promise to be crackers, as last term’s runners-up VfL Wolfsburg visit the Allianz Arena for a midweek fixture on 22 or 23 September. And on the final Oktoberfest weekend from 2-4 October, Borussia Dortmund provide the opposition in Munich.

The match schedule announced in Frankfurt remains provisional at this stage. The precise scheduling of the matches from Friday through Sunday is determined on an ongoing basis in the course of the season, mainly to accommodate the top clubs’ Champions League and Europa League commitments. The DFL will announce the finalised schedule for the first few matchdays by the end of next week.
