No goals for Poland without Lewandowski

Poland had to settle for a 0-0 draw in Tuesday night's friendly against Greece without the services of Robert Lewandowski. The FCB pro, who scored the fastest ever hat-trick (three goals in four minutes) in a Euro qualifier in the 4-0 win against Georgia three days ago, was one of several players Poland coach Adam Nawalka released from playing in the match in Gdansk.

Iwabuchi reaches World Cup Round of 16

With a third win in three games Mana Iwabuchi and Japan head Group C on Tuesday night and are through to the Round of 16 of the Women's World Cup in Canada. Yuki Ogumi scored the winner for the dominant holders on five minutes in the game against Ecuador in Winnipeg. FCB player Iwabuchi came off the bench on 80 minutes. Second place went to the surprise World Cup newcomers Cameroon after a 2-1 victory over Switzerland with two Munich players Caroline Abbé and Vanessa Bürki on the bench for the losers. Strikes from Gabrielle Onguene (47) and Ngono Muni (62) turned the game around in the second half to overcome the Swiss lead at the break through a goal from Ana Maria Crnogorcevic (24). In spite of the defeat the Swiss are almost certain of qualifying for the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams in the groups.
