As always, the start of a new season means a few changes in the squad numbering at FC Bayern. The three new signings announced so far have opted for the following shirt numbers: Douglas Costa will wear the number 11, Sven Ulreich number 23 and young talent Joshua Kimmich number 32. Xabi Alonso has elected to take over the number 14 previously worn by Claudio Pizarro; the Peruvian’s contract expired at the end of June. Three players are back from loan spells and will retain the numbers they had before temporarily leaving the club: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has the number 34, Jan Kirchhoff number 15 and Julian Green number 37.
New face in the physio team
After announcing the arrival of Dr. Andreas Schlumberger last week, the FCB medical unit has unveiled another new member: Christian Huhn joined the club as a physiotherapist on Wednesday. The 39-year-old Landshut-born specialist comes from Klaus Eder’s renowned practice in Donaustauf. He spent many years working for the EV Regensburg ice hockey team and pro football club SSV Jahn Regensburg, and also worked for Germany’s Davis Cup tennis team. Since 2007 he has been on the German FA (DFB) staff as a physio for various junior national teams, and for the full international team since October 2008. As a result, Huhn is already well known to a number of the FCB stars.
