Performance tests reloaded

On Saturday the remaining ‘holidaymakers’ took up their duties at FC Bayern. On Monday morning they were in for the programme that the rest of the team already completed two weeks ago: performance diagnostics. Manuel Neuer, Mario Götze, Robert Lewandowski, Jérôme Boateng, Mehdi Benatia, Juan Bernat, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Douglas Costa and Joshua Kimmich reported to the multipurpose sports hall at the Säbener Strasse and passed through a total of nine stations, being tested among other things for stamina, eyesight and jumping power. An orthopaedic examination followed. “It's good to see where you can improve,” commented Götze.

World Cup triumph, one year on

Maracanã, the 113th minute: Mario Götze took the ball on his chest, finishing it left footed on the volley into the far corner: 1-0! The goal made Germany World champions! On Monday 13 July this legendary match-winner passed its first anniversary. “It's a great memory,” said Götze, looking ahead only: “It's the here and now that counts. I'm looking forward to the coming season.”
