Most of the Bayern players are currently in China, but Holger Badstuber is among a group of players still at the Säbener Strasse training ground working towards a comeback. The Germany international took a welcome break from his sports rehab programme on Wednesday, thanks to the club’s online fans: Holger answered supporters’ questions under the hashtag #AskHolger on the official FC Bayern Facebook and Twitter channels. The defender revealed that he always wanted to be a professional footballer, that he would have loved to have played alongside Zé Roberto, Oliver Kahn, Mehmet Scholl and Stefan Effenberg, and that his current favourite song is “Christine” by Christine and the Queens. Praise for Costa
Douglas Costa was one of the standout players in FC Bayern’s two friendlies on the China tour to date. The summer signing turned in convincing displays on both the left and right flanks, showing great invention and explosive pace. Boss Pep Guardiola has taken note. “We’re very pleased with his first few days with us. He’s had two good games. His quality is in the one-on-one situations. He has no fear,” commented the Spaniard, although he ended with a word of caution: “He needs time to reach peak form.”
