UEFA are currently looking for the top goalkeeping performance of last season. Ten keepers have been nominated for the UEFA.com Save of the Season 2014/15 including Manuel Neuer for his world class display in the Champions League home game against AS Roma in November 2014: He first saved a point-blank effort from Gervinho with his legs before plucking the ball away from the corner of the net when Nainggolan hit the rebound. This can be seen again on the UEFA website where fans can also cast their vote. The winner, to be announced on 27 August, will be chosen by the fans.
Honour for Lahm
FCB skipper Philipp Lahm has received the Golden Germany award. “Representing the whole team, we have chosen the World Cup captain Philipp Lahm as the best sportsman, who is also a role model away from the pitch and he has earned the Golden Germany award for his social commitment alone,” said Alexander-Klaus Stecher. The media entrepreneur, presenter and producer initiated the award, presented since 2013 to personalities who have made a special contribution to Germany, German society and/or the German people. At the gala event in Munich on Saturday, which Lahm took part in via a video link, former Federal President Dr. Christian Wulff gave the congratulatory speech to Lahm. Other winners included Prince Albert II of Monaco, Placido Domingo and Thomas Gottschalk.
