Thiago has agreed a two-year extension to his contract with FC Bayern München. The player’s current deal would have expired in 2017, but the new agreement means he will remain in Munich until 2019. “We’re delighted Thiago has decided to stay with FC Bayern for the long term,” commented chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, “he’s young and an important player for the future of our club.”
The Spain international, who joined Munich from Barcelona in 2013, has made 41 appearances for Bayern to date. Thiago lost more than a year to a serious knee injury but finally made a comeback against Borussia Dortmund in April 2015. He is now fully fit again and completed the entire preseason programme this summer, before appearing in both the club’s Bundesliga matches so far.
