Prost! Bayern enjoy Oktoberfest revels

Ten wins on the bounce, goals galore, and new best-ever starts in the Champions League and Bundesliga – the traditional Maß of beer tasted even better then ever when the Bayern stars made their annual team trip to the Oktoberfest on Wednesday afternoon.  Only 15 hours had passed since the 5-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb, but the players and their families were in upbeat spirits.

“We’re having fun today, although obviously we can’t drink too much,” said Robert Lewandowski, whose aim was “simply to chill out” for a couple of cosy hours with the Bayern family. The squad, wives and girlfriends, their kids, the coaching staff and senior club officials got together at Käfers Wiesnschänke at the heart of the fairground. “Visiting the Oktoberfest is a tradition at FC Bayern. It’s a special occasion for us,” said Franck Ribéry, clad in Lederhosen like all the other players, “the mood and the atmosphere are wonderful. It’s so much fun.”

Ribéry is an old hand at the Oktoberfest these days, but the likes of Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa were experiencing it for the first time with FC Bayern. “I’ve already been here with my family. I really liked it,” revealed Costa. Vidal and his family also visibly enjoyed their stay at the world’s biggest popular festival.
